What does BALKAN yogurt taste like?
Our homemade Balkan natural yoghurt tastes similar to our Bulgarian yoghurt. However, the consistency is not as firm as with the Bulgarian variant. Nevertheless, the finished Balkan yogurt is so firm that it keeps its shape on the spoon.
Our delicious yogurt starter is a so-called heirloom variety. This means that once you have taken care of the yoghurt culture and have made Balkan natural yoghurt yourself, you can vaccinate again and again. It's like milk kefir, water kefir, kombucha. In principle, once you have the starter bacteria, you can endlessly make yoghurt yourself and pass it on :-) This yogurt starter ferments thermophilically. Thermophile means that the yogurt would be needed for fermentation. A yogurt maker is recommended for the fermentation of thermophilic yoghurt cultures.
