After lighting the 4. light at the weekend now Christmas is just around the corner. Even though for the right Christmas spirit the appropriate weather is still missing. But I’m still hoping for the appropriate weather – white Christmas – till the last day. So my “Snow-Order” is already placed.
I don’t know about all of you!? For my part I love it when it’s really cold outside. Especially when the snow crunches under my shoes. After a long walk with friends and family – chilled – and then enter a nice warm house – light the candles! and enjoying coffee and cookies! With this thoughts in my mind I develop a great appetite!
Considering all those sweet goodies I have consumed the past days, I had to make some healthy stuff. Something with kefir, fruity but also Christmas.
After checking what is going on in my pantry I started with this…
For this delicious ginger kefir drink you need the following:
- 250ml organic milk kefir from real live kefir grains – Click here for organic kefir
- ca. 1-2 cm ginger
- half a lemon
- 1 pomegranate
- some cinnamon*
Do you have all ingredients? Then we start…
- Cut and peel a piece (about the width of your thumbs) of ginger
I have alway fresh and tasty ginger at home. After all I need it to make my beloved ginger lemonade (Ginger Root Beer). When peeling please make sure just to remove the thin skin of the fruit. There is a great trick. Just take a teespoon and scrape off the skin with the edge of the spoon. Then you have less material for the organic waste:-) - Shred the ginger root with a rasp
By shredding the ginger root very fine all of the wonderful spice really going to work. - Add the kefir to the jar
You should avoid heating your home-made kefir, to protect the healthy active lactic acid bacteria and yeasts. You can also take self-made probiotic yoghurt. Please have a look at my article about home-made natural yoghurt. - Add the juice of half a lemon and a knife tip cinnamon
Fresh lemon and ginger belong to my basic kitchen equipment. After all I need regularly organic lemon for my water kefir soda made with japanese crystals. I still had enough cinnamon seasonally between my baking ingredients. - Half the pomegranate and add the kernels to the shake
The pomegranate is rich in vitamins and minerals. From time to time I buy some exotic fruits. Looking at the pomegranate I have to think of our holiday in Turkey. The locals there always offer delicious shakes with orange juice and pomegranate. - Mix it all well and store it cool for about 30 minutes. In this way the spice of the ginger can unfold.
I am totally convinced by the ginger kefir drink. A probiotic drink, fruity, slightly spicy with a festively cinnamon aroma. Depending on how spicy or cinnamon like you prefer it you can of course add some seasoning. There are no limits to your fantasy – at least not from me;-)
Enjoy making this healthy power drink. I am looking forward to your opinion…

So macht man selbst Pflanzenmilch: https://goo.gl/Q8dylQ
Und so wird Kefir aus Sojamilch bzw. Soja-Getränk hergestellt: https://goo.gl/jjS7hR
Viel Spaß!
Liebe Grüße
