Since I have my own Vitamix* I love to make my own smoothies and I couldn’t live without them anymore.

Sometimes I even replace a whole meal with one of those healthy power drinks. The high vital and nutritious mix of green leafy vegetables, fruits and water kefir is making that smoothie an ideal snack. Very interesting for me is the fact, how the discoverer of green Smoothies “Viktoria Boutenko” got to the idea.

She examined the eating habits of our closest relative -Chimpanzees. She found out that they used to eat a lot of leaves and fruits. Green leafy veggies have a high impact of micronutritions.

Moreover, they contain a lot of secondary plant materials and fiber. While sausages, meat and grains are metabolized sour, leafy veggies contribute to a basic effect and they lead to balanced acid-base ratio. But that’s not all! Another point in that context is Chlorophyll.

Chlorophyll is pretty hematopoietic and it is able to contribute to a balanced intestinal flora. That’s why we combine the good characteristics of green leafy veggies with those fresh vitamine-packed fruits. And if we finally add probiotic waterkefir instead of water to that healthy power drink, we have a perfect mixture, right?

  1. Wash the apple, citrus and spinach
    To get the best result, you should take fresh ingredients only.
    Here is where I found powdered spinach* and organic citrus direct juice* at my research.
  2. Peel and cut up the banana, citrus and apples into small pieces
    Remove the apple stalk and cut the apple in 4 parts. The apple cores is allowed to go into the mixer if you like.
    Peel of the skin of a quarter of citrus and the whole banana and cut everything in small pieces.

  3. Put the ingredients into a mixer and mix it
    First on a low level ca. 2 min. Afterwards, on the highest level until everything is pureed and creamy.

  4. Fill up the tasty smoothie into glasses and garnish it with a citrus slice

Ingredients

  • 500ml organic waterkefir made of real Japancristals
  • 150gr organic spinach
  • 1 ripe organic banana
  • 2 organic apples
  • ¼ organic citrus

Instructions

Wash the apple, citrus and spinach. To get the best result, you should take fresh ingredients only

Peel and cut up the banana, citrus and apples into small pieces

Put the ingredients into a mixer and mix it

Fill up the tasty smoothie into glasses and garnish it with a citrus slice

Smoothies with water kefir are my absolute favourite ones. Those vital ingredients and the extraordinary taste are making the smoothie something very special.
