Is your water kefir population exploding and you don’t know what to do with all those beautiful kefirgrains? Just try this awesome recipe. Grilled for barbecue or just fried in a pan it is a delicious kefir dream. Easily make your own selfmade kefir meatballs and enjoy for lunch or dinner. I bet that even the meat loving family members or guests will love it. Try it yourself:.

For this delicious drink you need:

  • 400g organic water kefir – you can get your organic water kefir here
  • 50ml sunflower oil
  • 1 onion
  • 5 Tbsp. unripe spelt grains
  • 200ml water
  • 1 Tsp. instant vegetable stock
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • ½ Tsp. pepper
  • ½ Tsp. paprika powder
  • 2 Tbsp. tomato ketchup
  • 1 Egg
  • breadcrumbs

If you already prepare water kefir with kefir crystals, you have all you need at home. For those Kefir newcomers: this is where you find all important information about how to prepare my own waterkefir at home.

Are you ready for ther recipe? Here it comes:

  1. Let water kefir crystal drain in a sieve
  2. Let green unripe spelt grains boil as it sais on the package leaflet
  3. cut onions into small pieces and fry in a pan
  4. Add unripe spelt grains, water, vegetable stock and water kefir to the pan and let it boil ca. 5min while stirring it constantly
  5. Let the ingredients inside the pan cool down on room temperature
  6. Put all ingredients from the pan into a bowl and add salt, pepper, paprika, tomato ketchup and egg. Now mix everything carefully together and add breadcrumbs until it becomes a formable mixture
  7. Make little meatballs out of the dough and heat them up inside the pan with oil 2-4 min both sides.
  8. Now enjoy
